Winter Blossoms at the Piano

Christmas Day, 2013: one of the three quiet days of the year, the others being New Year’s and Thanksgiving. Slept very late; padded to piano, taking in the absence of noise in the neighborhood and from the two freeways each a mile from us. Just sitting at the instrument (recently returned from major work) and drinking in the silence, I feel more fruitful. And when I touch the keys, how much softer I can play and still make the point! Notes blossom, chords are bouquets. If every day were so quiet, how much better we could communicate with each other. And with ourselves.
